National Women Build Week

Celebrating the culmination of National Women Build Week, local women volunteers from throughout Sussex County manned hammers, saws and paint brushes as they worked on finishing the DelCampo family’s new home. This Sussex County Habitat for Humanity project is one of 175 Habitat sites nationwide receiving grants, sponsored by Lowes, for taking part in National Women Build Week.

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Women Build has been selected by The Fund for Women to receive a grant in the amount of $15,000 for the 2009 grants cycle. The proposal detailed working with a single mother and her children who currently live in substandard living conditions to build them a safe, affordable home, and to use an all women volunteer corps to complete the home.

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Women Build was among 70 applicants requesting approximately $825,000 for projects that benefit women and girls in Delaware. The Fund for Women selected 15 projects for funding totaling $145,989.
